死碾（Deathgrind）融合了死亡金属（Death Metal）与碾核（ Grindcore）。该流派起源于20世纪80年代末的Terrorizer和Macabre等乐队。其他知名乐队包括Brutal Truth、后来的Napalm Death、Exhumed、Misery Index。死碾经常使用死亡金属的低沉嗓音和碾核的高亢尖叫，同时还具有死亡金属的技术性和碾核的强度。与大多数碾核乐队不同的是，死碾的歌曲结构中经常会有Breakdown，而且歌曲一般都比较短，但不像碾核那样极短。
