瑞典旋律死亡金属场景（Swedish Melodic Death Metal）又叫哥德堡之声（Gothenburg Sound）、哥德堡旋律死亡金属（Gothenburg Melodic Death Metal），主要出现在哥德堡（虽然这一场景除了哥德堡乐队也包括其他瑞典乐队），形成于1990年代初期。瑞典旋律死亡金属由Boss HM-2重金属失真效果踏板和更纯净的录音共同组成，并与英国重金属新浪潮（NWOBHM）的吉他风格相融合。该流派受瑞典斯德哥尔摩硬核朋克（ Hardcore Punk）风格的死亡金属（Swedish Death Metal）场景影响而诞生，但通过融合旋律性重金属元素与更清澈的制作风格，逐渐与斯德哥尔摩乐队形成差异，并由此开创了旋律死亡金属（ Melodic Death Metal）子流派。瑞典旋律死亡金属以小调式忧郁旋律、前卫风格及脱离死亡金属（Death Metal）血腥主题的哲学社会批判歌词为特色。其乐队采用中音嘶吼甚至偶尔加入清唱，与死亡金属的低吼唱法形成鲜明对比。

In Flames、At the Gates与Dark Tranquillity共同构筑了瑞典旋律死亡金属的框架，这三支乐队被统称为“哥德堡三大巨头”。该风格于1990年代中期凭借At The Gates的《Slaughter of the Soul》（1995）与In Flames的《The Jester Race》（1996）等专辑广受欢迎，进而确立旋律死亡金属在瑞典死亡金属场景中的核心地位。瑞典旋律死亡金属对美国金属核（ Metalcore）乐队产生深远影响，在塑造旋律金属核（Melodic Metalcore）流派的过程中发挥关键作用，同时亦推动了美国重金属新浪潮（ NWOAHM）的发展。
