Grungegaze是盯鞋（Shoegaze）的一个子流派，融合了Grunge/ Post-Grunge的主要特征，通常表现为泥泞且失真的吉他声音、侵略性很强的唱法和流行化的旋律，同时保留了盯鞋空灵的氛围，音乐还经常包含太空摇滚复兴（ Space Rock Revival）的声音元素。这种风格的起源可以追溯到20世纪90年代早期/中期的后朋克（Post-Punk）乐队，其中最著名的是The Smashing Pumpkins。到了千禧年末，一些另类金属（Alternative Metal）乐队如Hum、Deftones将Grungegaze的元素注入了降调的、中速的旋律中，使这种声音更加粗犷、厚重。21世纪，Title Fight、Nothing、Loathe等乐队的出现使这一风格得到了小范围的复兴。
