A.K.A. Chill Trance

Ambient Trance将Trance中多层和声与琶音合成器音色，转化为 Downtempo与氛围音乐（Ambient）的形式。这种风格于20世纪90年代中期主要以Trance曲目的 Chillout混音形式出现，将Trance音乐的旋律融入缓慢的Downtempo节奏，甚至完全省略鼓点。其中最受欢迎的混音作品包括The Thrillseekers对《Saltwater》的混音，以及Michael Woods对《Silence》和《Cafe' del Mar》的混音。Ambient Trance具有有机音色，大量使用真实乐器如弦乐和钢琴。在音效上，它通常与轻柔的子类型Ibiza Trance和 Dream Trance最为接近。该类型通常收录于合辑中，如《Angels: Chill Trance Essentials》和《Armada Lounge》。不过，它也包含原创曲目和专辑，例如L.S.G.的《Into Deep》。

Ambient Trance在一定程度上为Psybient铺平了道路，并与之高度相关，后者将 Psytrance的特点融入类似的结构中。这两个术语有时会被互换使用，许多该类型的音乐家，如Carbon Based Lifeforms和Solar Fields，都被描述为两者兼具。Ambient Trance本身在2010年代继续发展，一些作品如Aly & Fila的《The Chill Out》符合该类型，以及2020年代的音乐家如Courtesy。

自2010年代末起，部分制作人（主要来自泡泡糖贝斯/Bubblegum Bass背景）开始将氛围音乐元素与受Trance音乐影响的2010年代 EDM融合，偶尔与Ambient Trance存在相似性，但最终形成了一个与之无关、独立的趋势，被称为“Pointillistic Trance”，其音色与Ambient Trance存在显著差异。
