Death 'n' Roll是死亡金属（Death Metal）的一种，融合了硬摇滚（ Hard Rock）的节奏和乐器，还受到蓝调摇滚（Blues Rock）和早期重金属（ Heavy Metal）的影响。Death 'n' Roll的特点是以蓝调化的、律动为基础的声音，通常抛弃了死亡金属的快速节奏，而采用中速的演奏方式。同时保留了部分死亡金属的元素，如粗犷咆哮的人声，以及粗糙、降调的吉他声。Death 'n' Roll也可能与旋律死亡金属（Melodic Death Metal）重叠，后者同样受到老式重金属的影响。
瑞典死亡金属乐队Entombed在其第三张专辑《Wolverine Blues》中将这种风格发扬光大，Xysma和Dismember等其他北欧乐队也对该风格做出了显著贡献。著名的死亡金属乐队Carcass在发行第五张唱片《Swansong》时转而采用Death 'n' Roll的风格，但该专辑一经发行便受到了褒贬不一的评价。Death 'n' Roll凭借Six Feet Under乐队和他们的《Graveyard Classics》系列达到了流行的顶峰，该系列翻唱了许多经典摇滚和金属作品。
