放克碎拍（Funky Breaks）是1990年代末期兴起的一种碎拍（Breakbeat）形式。它融合了1990年代流行的碎拍风格（如大节拍/ Big Beat）与重要的放克（Funk）和灵魂乐（Soul）元素，回溯了碎拍音乐的起源——经典灵魂乐与放克鼓手的精湛鼓独奏和即兴演奏，正是这些演奏催生了最初的碎拍采样。Skint厂牌是最早呈现这种声音的唱片公司之一，其根源可追溯至Fatboy Slim等大节拍制作人的实验性探索，代表作如《Gangster Trippin》。后来Goodgroove Records等厂牌及All Good Funk Alliance等音乐家在此基础上拓展了早期风格，通过聚焦模拟现场乐器演奏等方式，将放克碎拍推向新领域。
2000年代中期衍生出密切相关的“新放克”（Nu-Funk）流派，其鼓点编排与制作手法更趋近于模拟现场放克录音，同时保留碎拍的特质。新放克还以中速节奏的碎拍（ Midtempo Breaks）为标志，通常保持在中等节奏区间。后来衍生出的贫民窟放克（Ghetto Funk）也是如此，更侧重中速节奏。掠夺采样（ Plunderphonics）技法由此成为新放克/贫民窟放克场景中更为重要的组成部分。
