流行灵魂乐（Pop Soul）是流行乐（Pop）与灵魂乐（Soul）的融合，起源于20世纪60年代，是灵魂乐跨界成功的一种尝试。摩城唱片公司（Motown Records）的音乐家们，如The Supremes（代表曲目《Baby Love》）、Martha and The Vandellas（代表曲目《Jimmy Mack》）和The Miracles（代表曲目《Tears of a Clown》）等，都是这种风格的代表。流行灵魂乐最终在20世纪70年代蜕变为迪斯科舞曲（ Disco），而在20世纪80年代，该流派的元素又被融入到了Sophisti-Pop中。
