森林合成器（Forest Synth）是地牢合成器（ Dungeon Synth）的一个分支，以树林为主题，早在20世纪90年代就已出现，但直到最近才有少数乐队将注意力集中在菌类家族（蘑菇、霉菌、酵母菌）上。它们的神奇居民（如精灵、侏儒、有生命的真菌生物）以及树木，都带有异想天开或令人毛骨悚然的色彩。作品的基调从田园风光到阴森恐怖不一而足：怀旧的旋律和宁静的田园氛围屡见不鲜。棕色和绿色的艺术作品反映了秋天的季节或腐烂的灌木丛。许多蘑菇合成器（Mushroom Synth）在保留森林合成器的氛围的同时，还融入了同样来自地牢合成器第二波浪潮的其他融合风格，如地牢噪音（Dungeon Noise）、 Dungeon Chiptune、地牢嗡鸣（Dungeon Drone）、舒适合成器（ Comfy Synth）等。
