Shredwave是一种以电吉他音色为主角的合成器浪潮（Synthwave）新分支，曲目中有很多solo，但没有类似 Darksynth的厚重合成器音色，基本上所有位置都留给了吉他的发挥。一些音乐是走AOR方向的，另一些则是走更摇滚（ Rock）的方向的，还有一些则是走更金属（Metal）方向的，但80年代的听感和合成器音色的融合仍然存在。Ultraboss是最早公开使用这个词去形容他的专辑的人之一，其他制作人也在类似的方向上制作了很多EP和专辑。
